VitalSound Wins the Red Dot Award 2026 — A New Milestone in Hearing Solution Design

We are thrilled to announce that VitalSound has been awarded the prestigious Red Dot Award 2026 in the Product Design category — one of the most coveted and respected design honours in the world. This recognition is not just a trophy on a shelf. It is a testament to the belief that hearing care technology can be both brilliantly functional and beautifully designed, and that elderly users deserve products crafted with the same level of intentionality and sophistication as any world-class consumer product.

What Is the Red Dot Award?
The Red Dot Award is widely recognised as one of the world's most influential and prestigious design competitions. Founded in Germany in 1954 and running its first official competition in 1955, the award has grown over seven decades into the ultimate global benchmark for design excellence, attracting entries from designers, manufacturers, and innovators across every industry.

Administered by the Design Zentrum Nordrhein Westfalen in Essen, Germany, the Red Dot Award is divided into three disciplines: Product Design, Brands & Communication Design, and Design Concept. Each year, an independent international jury evaluates every single entry — not against each other, but against absolute standards of design quality.
The award carries two levels of distinction:
Red Dot — awarded to products demonstrating high design quality
Red Dot: Best of the Best — the highest distinction, reserved for truly pioneering designs that set new standards in their category
Winning products are permanently exhibited at the iconic Red Dot Design Museum in Essen — housed at the UNESCO World Heritage Site Zollverein — as well as in Singapore and China, and are published in the celebrated annual Red Dot Design Yearbook distributed to design professionals worldwide.
Why Is This Award So Hard to Win?

The Red Dot Award is not handed out easily. Here is why earning this distinction represents a genuine achievement:
A Jury of the World's Best Design MindsIn 2025, the jury comprised 43 independent experts from 21 countries, including renowned designers, design professors, specialist journalists, and industry consultants. For 2026, approximately 40 international experts gathered in the Ruhr region to evaluate all submissions live and in person — handling, testing, and individually assessing every physical product. There is no shortcut and no remote judging — products are scrutinised up close.
Entries from Over 60 NationsEach year, over 20,000 design professionals, companies, and organisations from more than 60 countries compete for the Red Dot. The competition spans industries from consumer electronics and automotive to medical equipment and household goods — meaning VitalSound competed shoulder to shoulder with some of the most innovative companies on the planet.
A Pass Rate of Under 9%Only approximately 8.9% of all entries receive a Red Dot distinction. The higher honour, Red Dot: Best of the Best, has an acceptance rate of just 1.2%. The Grand Prix has historically seen ratios as low as 0.1%. These are not odds that favour the average. Only the truly exceptional products make the cut.
Four Uncompromising Standards of EvaluationEvery entry is judged against four qualities of good design, formulated by Professor Dr. Peter Zec, Founder and CEO of Red Dot:
Function — Does the product serve a clear, meaningful purpose?
Seduction — Is the product aesthetically compelling?
Usage — Is it easy and intuitive to use?
Responsibility — Is it sustainable, durable, and responsible in its impact?
A product must demonstrate strength across all four dimensions — not just one. For a product in the hearing care space, where the user is an elderly person navigating both functional and emotional needs, this standard is exceptionally demanding.
What This Means for VitalSound
VitalSound entered the Red Dot Award 2026 as a Hong Kong-born health-tech product — a desktop AI hearing aid speaker designed specifically to serve elderly users with mild to severe hearing loss, without requiring them to wear anything in or around their ears. To receive this international recognition is extraordinary.

The Red Dot jury's decision reflects what we have always believed: that a product for elderly users should not look clinical, feel burdensome, or compromise on design. VitalSound was built with the conviction that great technology must also be approachable, dignified, and beautiful in the hands of the people it serves.
Winning in the Product Design category — the most established and competitive category of the Red Dot Award, covering everything from consumer electronics to medical devices — places VitalSound in the company of the world's most celebrated products. Past Red Dot Product Design winners have included landmark designs from brands such as Sony, Philips, KIA, and Lamborghini.
What Happens Next?
VitalSound will be officially celebrated at the Red Dot Gala on 7 July 2026 at the Aalto Theatre in Essen, Germany — a grand ceremony attended by chief designers and design leaders from world-famous brands globally. Our award-winning product will also be featured in the Red Dot Design Yearbook 2026 and displayed at the Red Dot Design Museum — giving VitalSound permanent international visibility among the global design and business community.

A Note of Gratitude
This award belongs to every person who believed in what VitalSound is trying to do — our development team, our partners, and most importantly, every elderly user who trusted us to help them hear their world more clearly. The Red Dot is a reflection of your trust, and it pushes us to continue raising the bar.
We are proud to carry the Red Dot quality mark as we expand VitalSound's mission across Hong Kong, Taiwan, Europe, and beyond. The best is still ahead.
